About Rick Richey, MS, LMT
Rick Richey (R2) is one of the fitness industry’s top trainers and educators. He began his career in New York City at NYSC’s 62nd and Broadway gym in 2002, where he worked with a great group of quality trainers – many of which are still training and have become celebrity trainers, business owners, industry leaders, and educators. Within a year he was promoted to Fitness Service Manager, and again to a faculty position as an educator for the Training and Development department. He traveled to all Town Sports national regions (New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C.) to teach exercise science workshops to new hires. In 2005, Rick was hired by Equinox, groomed at the flag ship Columbus Circle location, and then transferred to open their first FLorida location in Miami Beach. In 2006, Rick moved back to the NYC after his acceptance to graduate school at California University of Pennsylvania. There he studied exercise science and sports studies with a focus on performance enhancement and injury prevention. While in graduate school, Rick became an educator for the prestigious National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). In 2008, Rick worked as trainer for The Wright Fit (TWF) at their highly exclusive 15 CPW location. In 2009, Rick graduated from the highly acclaimed Swedish Institute of Health Sciences as a massage therapist.
Rick still works with NASM as a workshop facilitator, content developer, and faculty member. He is also an adjunct faculty professor at his alma mater Cal U of PA, and is an educator for the Brookbush Institute of Human Movement Science. He continues to teach human movement and exercise science workshops at the fitness industry’s largest and most prestigious conferences. In his career, Rick has trained celebrities and notables from film, television, music, fashion, and sports, as well as numerous traditional clients. For the past few years, Rick has worked and traveled as a private trainer for a music industry mogul. He has now settled back down in NYC to open his own Independent Training Spot.
